Professional services for the design and construction supervision of feeder roads and bridges
The Feeder Roads and Bridges works as defined in the Masterplan Study comprise 94.2km of feeder roads (of which 32.2km will be paved and comprising a mixture of greenfield and brownfield roads), four pedestrian bridges, (ranging in length between 250m and 700m) and six vehicle bridges (ranging in length between 72m and 422m). The designs are subject to review during the Preliminary Design, but the current Masterplan indicates the following: i. Route 1: Paved vehicular road, 9m wide, 1.44km long, leading to a pedestrian footbridge (PB01), 1.5m walkway width, 700m long, more than 150m above the current river bed level, crossing the Polihali Reservoir, linking the Polihali Village to the A1 national road. ii. Route 2: Unpaved gravel road, 7m wide, 4.1km long, linking villages to the South of Polihali Reservoir with the Polihali Dam wall and hence to the PNEAR/PWAR. iii. Route 3A: Unpaved gravel road, 7m wide, 8.9km long, linking villages to the southwest of Polihali Reservoir to Road 4 and to a stand alone pedestrian bridge PB02. iv. Route 3B: Unpaved gravel road, 7m wide, 5km long, linking villages to the southeast of Polihali Reservoir to Road 4, plus vehicle bridge VB05, 72m long, 14m above river bed, and a stand-alone pedestrian bridge PB03, 1.5m walkway width, 400m long, more than 58m above river bed level. P a g e 2 | 3 v. Route 4: Unpaved gravel road, 7m wide, 32km long, linking villages to the south of Polihali Reservoir to Roads 2 and 3A and to the existing road to Mokhotlong. The majority of the route follows existing rural road alignments and crosses an existing vehicle bridge VB06 which will require repair. vi. Route 5: Paved vehicular road, 9m wide, 5.3km long, leading to a pedestrian footbridge (PB02), 1.5m walkway width, 700m long, more than 120m above the current river bed level, crossing the Polihali Reservoir, and linking the Koung Ha Phohla Village to the A1 national road. Approximately 60% of the route follows existing rural road alignment. vii. Route 6: Paved vehicular road, 9m wide, 10.6km long, plus two vehicle bridges VB07 and VB08, 132m long, more than 18m above river bed level, and 422m long, more than 72m above river bed level respectively. and linking villages to the northeast of the Polihali Reservoir to Ntlholohetsane village and routes to Mokhotlong. viii. Route 6A: Paved vehicular road, 9m wide, 5.5km long, linking the village of Ha Mathibeli to the northeast of the Polihali Reservoir to the A1 national road. Approximately 80% of the route follows existing rural road alignment. ix. Route 7: Paved vehicular road, 9m wide, 9.4km long, plus two vehicle bridges VB09 and VB10, 132m long 25 m above river bed level, and 282m long, 25m above river bed level respectively and one stand alone pedestrian bridge PB04, 2 |
