The Lesotho Automated Clearing House, an entity that offers clearing services for Electronic Fund Transfers (EFT) and cheque payment streams is currently managed by the Payments Association of Lesotho (PAL). Card transactions originating from ATM and POS machines in Lesotho are handled by the SASWITCH network which is operated by the South African banking system. Currently, the SASWITCH clears all transactions that originate from cards and POS terminals operated by member banks, within and out of Lesotho. This arrangement presents challenges to PAL and the financial sector of Lesotho. |
